Sigh. Here I am a day or two late with my blog post again. Maybe my mind is elsewhere, like someplace warmer! We have a colder winter than the past few years, so I am dreaming of the beach. Today I even got an email to book my beach vacation now and save 5 percent!
When you live in the middle of the country, going to the beach is definitely a vacation! We have been to several beaches, but it's difficult to choose a favorite. There are the ones I visited growing up, some when our kids were small and others when they were teens, and some with my husband. They are all so wonderful and each one has something special. Really, I just love the one where I am at the time!
It's always funny when we go to the beach and people are swimming in the hotel pool instead of actually spending time on the beach. I just don't understandl. You can do that in Kansas! Why would you spend all that money just to go to the pool? Beach vacations also mean lots of potential day trips for shopping and sightseeing. We have tried that once, but really just like sitting on the beach all day and soaking up the sun. We might go in the water once in a while to cool off, but just sitting there and relaxing is the best use of time. If you think you have to do something, try reading a paperback!
Mostly, however, It's just wonderful to soak up God's majesty and creation. Just sit there, relax, close your eyes and memorize the waves, the feel of the sun, the amazement of His work. That thought alone should get you through those cold days.
