When a childhood friend asked if I would like to place some of my aprons in her cute gift shop, I jumped at the chance! Sherri is co-owner of The Corner Boutique at 425 Main Street in Belton, Missouri. The photo above shows the front of the store. Check out her website, https://www.facebook.com/425MainStreet.
Sherri and I grew up about 7 miles from each other, close enough to be neighbors when you live in rural Kansas. We were in 4-H together, going to the same cooking project meetings. We were at separate elementary schools, but became requainted in middle and high school classes. There was one minor fiasco in our friendship in ninth grade when we both wore the same dress to the year-end party, but all was soon forgiven. My first girl-boy party was on New Year's Eve at her house during high school (yes, we all behaved very well, thank you). College years saw us separated for the most part, only getting together a few times a year with friends. Shortly after college, Sherri played the piano for my wedding. Her marriage came soon after, then it was the beginning of careers and growing families. We stayed in touch mainly with Christmas cards.
Fast forward a little over 30 years and a job transfer brought us to northeast Kansas. Sherri only lived about 30 minutes away, and we were able to meet up for lunch with another childhood friend. She graciously bought about seven aprons from me (thank you!) and invited me to be a vendor at a sale for her independent gift business. About a year ago, she opened her store (did I mention how cute it is?!), and now my aprons are a part of that! Hope you can stop by there soon to visit. There are lots of great gift items, including several by other local artists. Maybe I'll see you there sometime!
