Froedtert Malt L Grain Sack Apron - One Size

This great apron is made from a type of sack that is becoming more difficult to find -- Froedtert Malt of Milwaukee, Wis.

The bag printing is vertical, except for the letter "L" near the bottom. The bag notes it contained a minimum of 80 pounds. It also is marked as being made by Chase Seamless Bag Company. Cotton webbing was used for the neck strap and the waist ties. Cold water wash and line dry are recommended to prevent fading and shrinking.

The apron does have a few issues, including general stains as are typical of this age of sack, as well as some darker spots here and there. Most noticeable are the large dirt spots on one side. Please consider all of these factors before purchase.

The bodice width is 13 inches.
The waist is 34 inches.
The length is 34 inches from the top bodice center to the hemline.
The waist ties are each 51 inches.
Please use measurements to determine size. This apron was designed for men, but many women like to purchase these sturdy aprons. It is shorter than similar aprons.

In 1875, Jacob and William Froedtert expanded their grain and feed business to include malting facilities. The Froedtert Grain and Malting Company eventually outgrew its original location and moved to a large modern complex in the budding industrial suburb of West Milwaukee in 1920 where it quickly grew into a national industry leader. A group of French investors purchased the Froedtert Malt Corporation under their parent company, the International Malting Corporation, in 1986. Seventeen years later, this corporation closed its Milwaukee operations.

While the apron is described as accurately as possible, due to the vintage quality there may be age marks not noted specifically. Also, finding some or many seeds or feed pieces caught in the fabric is quite common. The bags have been washed at least once and many seed/feed pieces have already been removed, but some may remain.
