Carey's Salt Sack Apron Fits Sizes L - XL - 1X

$42.00

The vintage cotton sack used for this apron is a reminder of an historic Kansas company, Carey Salt.

The focus point of this very simply designed apron is the word "Carey's" in beige lettering on a red rectangle background. The sides are created from vintage flour sack fabric in red geometric designs with white daisies on navy blue circles. Vintage gathered cotton beige lace was placed at the bodice top and at the hemline.

The apron is trimmed in red. To adjust the length, simply place a knot in the neck tie where desired. Cold water wash and line dry are recommended to prevent fading and shrinking.

The apron does have several issues. While there are general stains as are typical of this age of sack, most of the sack is quite dirty as is obvious from the photos. There are no patches, but there are some rust spots that may develop into holes with frequent washing. Please consider all of these factors before purchase. This would be a great apron if you want something fun without worrying about getting it dirty!

The bodice width is 13 inches.
The waist is 28 inches.
The length is 37 inches from the top bodice center to the hemline.
The waist ties are each 30 inches.
This apron best fits women's sizes large, extra large or 1X.

Carey Salt gives this historical information about the company: “In 1901, Emerson Carey installed two grainer pans at his ice and cold storage plant at Avenue C and Main Street in Hutchinson. He obtained a charter for his new corporation, the Carey Salt company, for the 'manufacture of ice and salt.' His was the last salt company to be established in Hutchinson, 26 years after salt was discovered in Kansas. It was also one of the most enduring. The rock salt mine, the last of the Carey Salt Company, was finally sold and become the Hutchinson Salt Company in 1991, 90 years after its formation.”

* Please keep in mind this apron was created from an authentic vintage cloth sack. Photos show the design and print darker than in actuality. While the apron is described as accurately as possible, due to the vintage quality there may be age marks not noted specifically.
