Superior Sugar Sack Apron Fits Sizes S - M - L

Superior Sugar Refining Company had one of the several kinds of mills in Menominee, Michigan, where the bag used to make this apron was used.

The top of the apron reads "Toweling Bag, Wash In Cold Water To Remove Printing and Make Cloth Absorbent." Well, I machine washed and dried this bag before sewing construction and the print is still there!

The main words are in black and they read:

Below this print is a logo for the Chase Bag Co. The bag back was used to make the side panels. There is printing on these parts that note the sugar was distributed by a Bay City, Michigan, company.

The waist and neck ties are in black. To adjust the length, simply place a knot in the neck tie where desired.

The weight of the fabric is great -- it is a nice, dense toweling fabric that has blue and red stripes on the sides of the logo. The condition is fairly clean with general marks and spots as are typical of a vintage bag that has been used. There are darker spots on the lower right, as shown in the photos. There are no patches.

The bodice width is 11 1/2 inch
The waist is 30 1/2 inches.
The length is 31 inches from the top bodice center to the hemline.
The waist ties are each 29 inches.
This apron best fits women's sizes small, medium or large.
Cold water wash and line dry are recommended to prevent fading and shrinking.

* Please keep in mind this apron was created from an authentic vintage cloth sack. Photos show the design and print darker than in actuality. While the apron is described as accurately as possible, due to the vintage quality there may be age marks not noted specifically. Also, finding some or many seeds or feed pieces caught in the fabric is quite common. The bags have been washed at least once and many seed/feed pieces have already been removed, but some may remain.
